Boogat

Boogát is a Canadian-Mexican musician from Montreal, blending hip-hop with Latin Music styles such as Cumbia, Salsa and Reggaeton. His album ”Neo-Reconquista” won the Juno and Félix award for ”World Music Album of the Year” at the 2016 Juno Awards and the ADISQ gala, , respectively.

The son of immigrant parents from Paraguay and Mexico, he was born in the city of Québec and raised in the Beauport borough of the city. In 2001, he moved to Montréal where his career started.

Singing first in French, Boogát moved to Spanish after playing with the electronic music producer Poirier and the Latin music group Roberto Lopez Project; discovering a new world of possibilities that opened the way to collaborate with artists such as La Yegros, Uproot Andy, El Hijo De La Cumbia, El Dusty, Lido Pimienta, G-Flux, Super San, Mati Zundel, Kid Koala, Poirier, Pierre Kwenders, Radio Radio and El Remolon, amongst others.

He released his first full-length Spanish album ”El Dorado Sunset” in 2013. The album won two ”Félix Awards” for ”Best World Music Album” and ”Producer of the Year” at ”ADISQ 2013”. He has been touring Canada, USA, México, Argentina, UK, Germany, Netherlands, France, Czech Republic and Spain ever since.

”San Cristóbal Baile Inn”, which includes collaborations with Andrés Oddone, Frikstailers, Miss Bolivia, Niña Dioz and Lemon Bucket Orchestra, was just released in 2017.

Boogát releases an new EP for Aquí on June 8th, which includes the original song from the ”San Cristóbal Baile Inn” album as well as two remixes by Ckrono and Reptilian Commander.

“The Fireflies Are Gone” nominated at the 2019 ADISQ Gala

The original soundtrack of the popular movie “The Fireflies Are Gone”, composed by the talented Philippe Brault, has been nominated at Gala ADISQ 2019 in the “Album of the Year – Instrumental” category! Philippe is also nominated in the “Best production” category as co-producer of Koriass latest album, “La nuit des longs couteaux”.

Boogat in nominations at Junos 2019!

World artist Boogat has been nominated at the 2019 Junos for “World Music Album of the Year” with his latest album “San Cristobal Baile inn”. The 2019 Juno Awards will take place March 17 and will broadcast across the country on CBC, CBC Radio One, CBC Music and CBC’s website.

Boogat nominated at Gala ADISQ 2018

Congratulations to Boogat, nominated at Gala ADISQ in the category “Album of the year – World Music” for his album “San Cristobal Bale Inn”! The winners will be unveiled Sunday October 28th, 8PM, at Salle Wilfrid-Pelletier de la Place des Arts and live broadcasted on ICI Radio-Canada Télé.

Boogát releases a new EP of remixes for “Aquí”

Boogát is back right on time for summertime and festival season with a new EP of remixes for his song Aquí. For his latest release, Boogát called on two DJs and producers to revisit his track from the San Cristóbal Baile Inn album released last October. The first remix is signed by Reptilian Commander, a New York producer well known for his tropical & global bass productions and remixes. The second remix is the work of Italian-Japanese producer Ckrono, considered one of the pioneers of the international tropical bass sound and founder/resident DJ of Balera Favela Club in Milan.

Boogat’s music in multiple 2018 productions

Boogát’s music will be featured in multiple 2018 productions, including “Eres Une Bomba” in the American series Queen of the South and Skam Austin, “Tanto Tattoo” in Ubisoft’s The Cew 2 videogame, as well as “Unico” in the French-Canadian movie Chien de garde.

A busy year for record producer Philippe Brault!

Philippe Brault will produce multiple albums in 2018 and will work with Pierre Lapointe, Safia Nolin, Random Recipe, Ariane Moffatt, Ingrid St-Pierre and Jérôme 50. Details to come!

Boogat’s new album

San Cristóbal Baile Inn is Boogát’s third album, written entirely in Spanish, and revisits a more electronic sound, infused with rap and Reggaeton flavours. A danceable, uplifting and party oriented record, it stays true to the roots of Latin music, while remaining politically charged.

Release of Boogat’s 3rd single, Sabes Muy Bien!

Today Canadian-Mexican musician Boogát shares his song “Sabes Muy Bien”, a collaboration between Andrés Oddone and Frikstailers. This is the third single off his upcoming album, San Cristóbal Baile Inn, set for release on October 6th via Maisonnette. The track, both romantic and danceable, is an open letter to family, love, and friendship, and explores how our choices define the ways we live our lives. This single is accompanied by the beautiful artwork of Todobien Estudio, an art collective based in Mexico.

Mezcalero Feliz, Boogat’s new single!

“Mezcalero Feliz” is the second extract from Boogat’s new album. The song borrows and reworks a number of Mexican folk sayings that celebrate Mezcal, letting Mezcalero Feliz shine through its modern interpretation of a song style usually reserved for Traditional Mexican Music.

The songs “Una Cita” and “Creida” of Boogat will be in the movie “De Père en Flic 2”.

Boogat presents an EP of 4 remixes

Boogat presents an EP of 4 remixes. For these remixes, Boogat called up a few DJ and producer friends. There’s a remix by King Doudou, who Trax Magazine describes as “one of the new french rap hype producers”. The song is also remixed by mexican DJ G-Flux, who is based in Baltimore, and his version makes it hard not to move to the Cumbia Bass grooves. DJ Inko, londonian but born in Greece, makes a dancefloor rework of “Eres una bomba” adding Mumbahton and Tribal rythmics. Spain’s own DJ Caution from Madrid, mixed heavy Rap beats into the song alongside some oriental flavors.

Philippe Brault produced and arranged the track “Should I’ve been there” of the last EP of the hip hop Quebec band Brown.

Boogat releases a new single!

“Eres una bomba” is the first extract from the campaign, which will be launching Boogat’s summer tour. This song mixes Latin music, Electronica and Dance Hall with hints of Bresilian Batucada.

Boogat’s song “Wow” is in the first episode of the British TV series “Snatch”. The new series, based on Guy Ritchie’s 2000 movie, is a whole lot of fun, a stylish heist story with an irreverent sense of humor. It features Rupert Grint, Luke Pasqualino, Lucien Laviscount, Marc Warren to name a few.

Juno: an album produced by Philippe Brault awarded

Congratulations to Laurence Nerbonne for the JUNO of “Francophone Album of the Year”. Her album XO, released in March 2016, was produced by Philippe Brault. The album Love Supreme by Koriass, co-produced by Philippe Brault, was also in nomination in the same category.

Album release for Boogat in Mexico and USA!

Boogat is releasing today his album “Neo-Reconquista” in Mexico, under license with the label Casete. This release is celebrated with a sold-out show at El Imperial in Mexico city. The album release will follow in USA in October with a serie of shows.

Busy july for Boogat!

After Montreal Francofolies Festival, Boogat and his musicians played this Monday in Quebec (FEQ) and yesterday in Toronto. He finishes the week being number 1 in Earshot International Top 10 and one of his song will be part of  the British Songlines Magazine CD compilation.

Boogat’s new album is expected for 2013

Maisonnette is taking part in the realisation of Boogat’s new album.

The multi-instrumentalist (vocal/author/composer and producer) was very busy this summer : he just got back from the US and Ontario and he is already working on his new record “El Dorado Sunset” that will be released early 2013.

Many guest are expected on this album !
