Mathieu Vanasse

Mathieu Vanasse has been working in television, cinema and advertising since 1999, the year he graduated with a master degree in composition from the University of Montréal. His work counts multiple landmark series and international motion pictures.

His experience with rock keyboards, his mastering of classical writing and his eclecticism make Vanasse a composer of impressive versatility. From brit-rock smash-hits to heartbreaking string arrangements, he has it all to convey the right tone and feeling to a movie.

With more than 20  TV series to his record, including PLAN B (2017), Mon ex à moi (seasons 1 et 2, 2015-2016), Les Pêcheurs (5 seasons), Yamaska (7 seasons), Nos Étés (Gémeaux Awards for best music 2008), La Vie Rêvée de Mario Jean, François en Série and Pure Laine, along with many documentaries, for the past six years, Vanasse has also started working on motion pictures such as Nous sommes les autres by Jean-François Asselin (nov 2017), Rêves de Poussière (Dreams of Dust – by Laurent Salgues) and Comme tout le monde (Mr. Average – by Pierre-Paul Renders).

Mathieu Vanasse presents his instrumental album “Archipel”

After composing music for film, tv, theatre and animation for over 20 years, Montreal composer Mathieu Vanasse presents “Archipel”. Released on November 15, the album blends electronic elements with piano and strings into pathless, hypnotic soundscapes – like travelling without a map.

2018 Gémeaux prize winners unveiled

Maisonnette is proud to have contributed to multiple productions rewared at Gémeaux prizes last Sunday, including Plan B for “Best drama series” (music by Mathieu Vanasse), Lâcher prise for “Best comedy” (music by Serge Nakauchi Pelletier), and last but not least Terreur 404 for best original web series: fiction, for which composer Jonathan Dauphinais wrote the music.

Mathieu Vanasse composed the music of the new TV series “Discussion avec mes parents”, based on François Morency’s critically acclaimed book. The 13 episode series, produced by A Media and directed by Pascal L’Heureux, will air on ICI Radio Canada during the 2018-2019 season.

The TV series “Plan B” won this week-end the award of “Best Foreign Francophone Fiction” at the Festival de la Fiction TV (La Rochelle, France).

Mathieu Vanasse signed the original soudntrack for the new TV series “Plan B”. It will be broadcasted on Séries + from May 5th 2017. Written by Jean-François Asselin (“Les Pêcheurs”, “François en série”) and Jacques Drolet, the series is directed by Jean-François Asselin and produced by KOTV.

Mathieu Vanasse composed the music of the new comedy tv show “Mon ex à moi”, with the actress Sophie Desmarais. The show in 16 episodes is produced by Avanti, and will be broadcasted on Séries + from April 1st.

While the 6th season of Yamaska will be broadcasted from September 2014 to March2015, Maisonnette will direct again the music for the 7th season with the same team: Mathieu Vanasse, Jean-Sébastien Brault-Labbé and Claude Milot.
