“Drunken Birds” wins 10 IRIS Awards, including Best Original Music

DRUNKEN BIRDS by Ivan Grbovic comes out as the big winner of the Quebec Cinema 2022 Gala, with a total of 10 trophies. On top of collecting the Iris for Best Film (Luc Déry, Kim McCraw), Best Directing (Ivan Grbovic) and Best Scenario (Ivan Grbovic, Sara Mishara), the film also won the IRIS for Best Original Music, composed by Philippe Brault

« Le lac des hommes » from director Marie-Geneviève Chabot will be released in theaters June 10. The film, for which Serge N. Pelletier scored the music, follows 3 brothers who, in the hopes of reconnecting with their father, go on a fishing trip with the man who marked their lives by his absence. “Drunken Birds” and “Maria Chapdelaine” in TIFF’s Top 10 Canadian Films of 2021

The two movies, both scored by Philippe Brault, are featured on TIFF’s top ten list of best Canadian movies of 2021 alongside titles such as Night Raiders, All My Puny Sorrows and Scarborough. The titles were selected by the TIFF’s programming team: Cameron Bailey, PDG, Diana Sanchez, directrice principale du cinéma, et Steve Gravestock, directeur associé de la programmation canadienne.
